Beaver Island, a beautiful and serene place in the Great Lakes, has recently undergone a significant restoration project aimed at improving and protecting its natural environment. THOMASVILLE- For City of Thomasville Utilities customers, the impact of Hurricane Helene began on Thursday night, September 26, when strong winds and heavy rain caused widespread power outages and property damage. Many residents were left without electricity or running water, prompting the city to declare a state of emergency.

The restoration project on Beaver Island not only focused on the natural environment but also improved recreational areas for residents and visitors. The project improved Enger Golf Course and restored an important trout stream, creating a more sustainable and enjoyable outdoor space for all to enjoy.

The Edmonds Marsh Volunteer Restoration Project concluded its work for this year in restoring freshwater connections to the Edmonds Marsh, a vital habitat for local wildlife. Volunteers spent countless hours planting native vegetation, removing invasive species, and cleaning up litter to ensure the marsh remains a healthy and thriving ecosystem.

The Adams County Historical Society and Adams Health Network came together on Wednesday, Sep. 25, for a grave site dedication for Decatur, a local hero who fought in the Civil War. The dedication ceremony included speeches, music, and a wreath-laying ceremony to honor Decatur's service and sacrifice.

GHENT, WV (WVNS) – Although the power is starting to come back on for some, many people across the Virginias are still navigating life without basic utilities. Multiple utilities say they will need to completely rebuild, rather than repair, electric systems in the hardest-hit areas, further prolonging the recovery process for residents.

Thanks to a complete restoration effort, the Kirby Center is once again welcoming guests and hosting events for the community.
