It has figured out a few things and last month Karat Home purchased furniture retailer Z Gallerie out of bankruptcy for $7.2 million with plans to close all physical stores but continue online sales.

According to documents filed in the bankruptcy proceeding, Z Gallerie was suffering from “severe liquidity constraints” brought on by changing consumer habits, increased competition, and high operating costs. Store closing sales have begun at the 21 Z Gallerie stores nationwide, including those in Sherman Oaks and Costa Mesa, the home furnishings.
